Recently, during a pre-tournament press conference at the French Open, Djokovic made a surprising admission about his performance during that match.

The Serb opened up a window into his evolving mindset and game over the past few years. When asked about his preparation for such monumental tournaments, Djokovic expressed his growth as a player. He also acknowledged that his physical form had changed extensively over the decade.

Although Federer had the upper hand in terms of statistics, Djokovic was still able to come out on top and secure his fifth Wimbledon title.

However, Djokovic made it clear that he wouldn’t have done anything differently during their Wimbledon encounter. At the pre-tournament press conference at French Open, he confessed, “Well, I said earlier that things are different in terms of my physical state ten years ago than they were now. But not that I would do something differently. I think there were some big, big matches in my life that I lost. I wish maybe I handled those particular situations a bit differently. That would maybe cause a different result for me.

He also added, “..statistically I was, you know, beaten by him in every stat. And I never broke his serve the entire match, and I still won it, the finals of Wimbledon. And, you know, against Rafa in 2012, Australian Open finals, et cetera, et cetera.”
