The dream is to see the children representing their nation on a global stage. That’s a common dream of most families who have encouraged their kids to take up the sport from a young age. The Tsitsipas brothers are now turning these dreams into a reality. This week we saw Stefanos Tsitsipas and Petros Tsitsipas together in Sydney representing their nation at the United Cup. That must have been a proud moment for the family, and their reaction says it all.

Well, representing the nation is always a proud moment. Recently Apostolos Tsitsipas, the father of Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas, also recalled another ‘special moment’ from the past. What’s it? Let’s find out.

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ father reveals family’s dream come true moment

The former world number 3, Stefanos Tsitsipas was introduced to the sport at the age of 3 and he started taking lessons at the age of 6. He is currently the highest-ranked male Greek player in the history of the sport. Tsitsipas won the Next Gen ATP Finals in 2018 and then a year later clinched the Nitto ATP Finals. He has won a total of 10 titles in his career, but what’s the most special title for his father cum coach, Apostolos Tsitsipas?

Last year Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas won their maiden ATP Tour doubles title together in Antwerp. That was quite an emotional moment for the Tsitsipas family, and here’s how their father reacted while recalling that moment. He said, “It’s one of the most special moments. As Stefanos said, maybe it was the most special title of his life. It was a dream. It came true. They won a professional event together and I’m sure that now they’re dreaming more things.”

Once upon a time, both brothers dreamed of playing at the highest level in racket sport. Petros always has this one goal, which is to catch up with his brother, who now regularly features in the Top 10 of men’s single ranking. Stefanos Tsitsipas recalled how they battled each other day in and day out during their childhood. They had first played their doubles match together at a U-14 event in their homeland. Tsitsipas makes a good start to his campaign in 2024

After opting out of the clash against Chile in the singles event on Tuesday due to injury concerns, Tsitsipas’ fans became worried yet again. They had kept their fingers crossed until he returned to play the mixed doubles match. But the clash against Chile didn’t go their way, as the Greeks lost the Group B tie by a 2-1 margin.

Next up for Team Greece is Canada, and they have got off to a good start with the help of their superstar, Stefanos Tsitsipas. The 25-year-old defeated Canada’s Steven Diez by a 6-2,6-3 margin to give Greece a 1-0 lead at the Ken Rosewall Arena. Can Tsitsipas clinch the title for his nation along with his brother before kick-starting his campaign at the 2024 AO?
