‘Let Me Think About It’ – Matteo Berrettini’s Hilarious Response to a Marriage Proposal at Queen’s Club Championships

Italian tennis Matteo Berrettini has been having a great grass-court season so far. Since returning from injury, the world no.10 has won his very first tournament at the Stuttgart Open. Today, he played another incredible match in the semi-finals of the Queen’s Club Championship to make his second consecutive final appearance. 

Meanwhile, one interesting thing happened during his post-match interview when someone from the crowd gave him a marriage proposal. And the Italian player had a very funny response to the proposal.

Matteo Berrettini gave an interesting reply to a marriage proposal

Notably, Berrettini was playing against the Dutch player Botic Van de Zandschulp in the semi-final of the Queen’s Club Championships. After a rain delay, the Italian player eventually beat Van de Zandschulp in 1 hour and 30 minutes; the final score was 6-4, 6-3.

As Berrettini was describing the tough conditions he faced during the match, some guy from the crowd shouted, “Matteo, will you marry me?”

In reply, the tennis player gave a funny reply, which made the whole crowd laugh. He said, “Let me think about it.”

Meanwhile, the Italian player is reportedly single after breaking up with the Australian tennis star, Ajla Tomljanovic. They have been dating since 2019 and possibly broke up after the Australian Open this year.

Berrettini is a strong contender for Wimbledon

Last year, Berrettini showed his tremendous grass-court prowess, as he reached the final of the Wimbledon. Unfortunately, he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final after a tough battle. This year, he was in pretty good form till the Indian Wells. After that, he has gone through a surgery on his right hand. As a result, he had to miss the entire clay-court season, including the French Open.

Last week, he returned to action at the Stuttgart Open, where he won the tournament by beating the 2-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray in the final.

Now, he is in the final of the Queen’s Championships as well, where he will face the Serbian tennis player Filip Krajinovic; the final will take place tomorrow. If he wins this final, it will be his second title in a row on the green surface. Safe to say, it will also boost his confidence greatly for the Wimbledon Championships.
