‘My Journey as an Elite Athlete Isn’t Over Yet’ – Roger Federer Provides Massive Respite for fans in a Wholesome Message to His Foundation

Roger Federer is one of the most popular tennis players to ever grace this planet. He has a huge fan following, to say the least. Even though he has been out of the circuit for quite some time owing to his injuries, he recently opened up about the unique highlights of the last year.

Federer established ‘Roger Federer Foundation’ in 2003. Since then the organization has been helping underprivileged children, providing them access to education and sports. Writing the foreword for the Annual Report released by his foundation, the Swiss Maestro thanked his supporters and donors for their generous donations.

He also provided a much-anticipated message about his return to the tour.

The Swiss Maestro spoke about how the pandemic wreaked havoc across the globe throughout the last year. However, he was grateful to disclose how various donations have contributed to the multiple programs at the organization. He also appreciated the mammoth effort undertaken by his wife, Mirka Federer. She kept a track of all the gear that he has worn on the tour over the years. These items that included his outfits, racquets, and shoes were auctioned in collaboration with Christie’s Auction House.

“We were able to raise 3.9 million Swiss Francs for the foundation. These proceeds complemented the numerous and generous donations from my loyal supporters, friends and sponsors. For the first time the foundation received more than 10 million Swiss Francs in donation for our programs last year,” he said, also expressing his heartfelt thanks to all the donors and supporters.

But what was more interesting is that he opened up about how his ongoing rehabilitation.  All his fans have been eagerly awaiting his return. “My experience in Doha illustrated to me that my journey as an elite athlete isn’t over yet. The progress I make every day strengthens my belief that I will be healthy and strong enough to return to the tennis court at the highest level,” he said.

The 20-time Grand Slam Champion also elaborated on how it was extremely special to celebrate his 40th birthday with his family, friends and his team. He said that they have been by his side throughout his professional career, and has helped him become the player and person he is.
