Carlos Alcaraz, the young blood, is taking the tennis world by storm. He first topped the headlines by reaching the semifinals of Indian Wells and claiming the trophy at the Miami Open. Thereafter, he shocked fans by taking down both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Alcaraz outclassed the two big three players on his way to the Madrid Open’s title. And now he ended the Grand Salm season with a US Open win. Therefore, many argue that he has the potential of rising to the big three’s level. Recently, the matter reached the interview table of Roger Federer, and here’s what he has to say about the same.

Federer’s prediction about the career of Carlos Alcaraz
Federer, while addressing the media, spoke about the future of the 19-year-old. He said, “You don’t want to have that price tag–‘you’re the one who’s going to win 20-plus’. I think that’s not fair because nobody can predict that type of number.”
Thereafter the 20 times Grand slam champion added, “Once you reach maybe five, seven, you can say like: ‘OK, now we can start talking. But we never talked about 20 with me. We always talked about maybe you could reach 15. It just starts to increase more and more.”

“Everything’s slow nowadays. Indoors is not what it used to be. That’s why I think there will be more players in the future with I’d say five-plus slams,” he explained.
Alcaraz had earlier expressed the desire to lock horns with Federer. Though it won’t come true as with this season’s Laver Cup he marked the end of his marvelous career. He dropped out of the race between him, Nadal, and Djokovic.

The former World no.1 suffered a knee injury last year that demanded surgery and after over a year of recovery, time still wasn’t good enough to cope with the harshness of professional tennis. Therefore, the Swiss maestro was pushed to hang his racket.
Alcaraz’s performance in the US Open
The Spaniard, after facing an opening round defeat in the Canadian Masters, made up to the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters and executed the final jump in the US Open. He took down his first two opponents in straight sets and then avenged his Croatia Open loss against Jannik Sinner.

In a fierce five-set long match, he outclassed the Italian with 6-3 6 (7)- 7 6 (0)-7 7-5 6-3 score and advanced to the semifinals. In the semis, he got the better of home favorite Frances Tiafoe and booked a match with Casper Ruud. The Norwegian who fought at the French Open finals as well gifted the US Open trophy to Alcaraz at the expense of the third set.
