Sunday’s final match between Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev was one of the most dramatic matches the tennis world has ever seen. The buzz started after the Spaniard won his semi-final match against Matteo Berrettini. Over the weekend, the numbers steadily increased, but after the win, they rose dramatically.

According to Zoomph, data has been recorded from 28th January to 30th January. During that time, almost 350,116 posts mentioned the name Nadal or his Twitter handle, along with 5,330,425 total engagements. Shockingly, the social value they generated is around $15,156,631.

However, after Djokovic’s departure from Australia, Nadal became the second favorite. The Spaniard looked down and out in the first two sets against Medvedev. But Nadal’s fighting spirit and mental toughness did not let him give up. 

In the end, after 5 hours and 24 minutes of relentless battle, Nadal clinched his second Australian Open title and became the only person with 21 Grand Slam singles titles. 

This win was significant for Nadal, especially after suffering a foot injury last year. He was on crutches for the most part of 2021 and wasn’t even sure about taking part in the Australian Open. It turned out that his decision was the right one as he now holds the Australian Open Trophy.
