The 2022 Laver Cup was an emotional one for the entire tennis community. It marked the end of an era – Roger Federer, one of the greatest to ever step foot on the court, was retiring from tennis. There was no dry eye in the house as the player, filled with raw talent, created magic on and off the court. But even after having given up the pro-life, Federer is never far from a racket, as his recent social media post proves.

Despite calling an end to his career, the Swiss legend is still involved in tennis. He is often seen attending tournaments, albeit now as part of the audience. However, this time, he has taken the racket into his own hands.

Back in 2020, a video of Federer playing tennis in the snow had gone viral on social media. It involved him facing a wall and playing solo, the bad weawas ther no deterrent to his drive. In that video, the Swiss maestro displayed his full range of shots, right from his powerful forehands to in-between-the-legs shots.

Years after that video went viral, Roger Federer has recreated this magic again. He took to his official Instagram handle and posted a story of himself playing tennis against a wall. What was interesting to note was that it didn’t look like he had retired from the sport as he hardly missed any returns.

Time and again, rumors have surrounded about Federer’s comeback to tennis after his retirement. The Swiss maestro often shares his involvement in the sport, which fuels those rumors.

However, he has maintained that although he will be associated with the sport soon, a comeback as a player is unlikely. Additionally, he also shared details about his role in tennis after his retirement.

Federer’s tennis involvement post-retirement

During an interview last year, the 20-time Grand Slam champion revealed how often he associates with tennis on a daily basis after hanging up his cleats. Along with his playing career, Federer also had other associations like the Laver Cup.

He mentioned, “I check the scores three times a day. It’s incredible to see how the new generation is stepping up and challenging the old guard. The competition is as fierce as ever, and it’s a joy to watch.”
