Daniil Medvedev has had to undergo mixed emotions this season. The reigning US Open champion made it to the finals of the Australian Open before a heart-breaking loss against Rafael Nadal in the summit clash. Further, he toppled Novak Djokovic to reach the top spot in the ATP rankings after a brilliant start to this year.

However, he had a dismal run at the ‘Sunshine Double’. He lost in the third round and the quarterfinals in Indian Wells and Miami, respectively. In the process, he lost his Number 1 ranking to Djokovic.
