Alexander Zverev is riding high on the back of a phenomenal 2021 season. The 24-year old German star won the most number of ATP tournaments this year. Furthermore, he was also the first German man to win a gold medal in the singles category.
Moreover, he added to his tally of achievements this year as he won the ATP Finals as well. After that, the young star expressed that he looked at 2022 intending to finally win a Grand Slam. Sadly, for all his accolades, a major trophy still eludes Zverev.

In the official Australian Open podcast titled the ‘AO Show’, former star Todd Woodbridge talks about Alexander Zverev. He expressed his belief that World No. 3 would finally be winning a Grand Slam next year.
Moreover, Woodbridge is convinced that it would be the very first major, the upcoming Australian Open! “Zverev has to take advantage soon, which I think he will, this coming year. I think he’ll win his first major,” he said.

Then, referring to Alexader Zverev by his nickname, Woodbridge continues. “I think we’re gonna see Sascha Zverev win a major. I think the Australian Open could be that one,” he predicts.

In the same vein, he explains why he thinks so, praising Zverev’s improved consistency. “He has matured as a player. He now understands what it takes to win seven games to the best of five sets,” Woodbridge reasons. “I think his consistency within five-set matches is better. He’s now learned how to finish people off quicker.”

Zverev has the entire world on notice
Alexander Zverev defeated World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics this year. In fact, he ended up spoiling the Serb’s attempt at a Golden Slam.
Furthermore, he also defeated him and World No. 2, Daniil Medvedev, at the ATP World Tour Finals.

After a tour-best 59 wins this season, Zverev expressed what he intends to achieve going forward. “I have succeeded on every single level, and there’s one thing missing,” Zverev said. “I hope I can do that next year,” he stated.
