There were rumors of his comeback for a long time, but Argentine star Juan Martin del Potro finally showed up in an exhibition match. Fans know him primarily for giving tough times to the “Big Four” during their heydays. He defeated Rafael Nadal in the semifinal of the 2009 US Open. And in the final, he defeated Roger Federer. But rather than giving any tough time to legends, this time, he enjoyed his time on the court with other greats of the sport.

During del Potro’s prime on the ATP Tour, ‘Fedal’ were not the only ones on his hit list. He defeated Andy Murray in a semifinal and a quarterfinal. Fans also remember him for his epic battle at the US Open 2018 with Novak Djokovic, which he lost. Though the tennis star is still craving to repeat such iconic performances, fitness problems are keeping him back. But recently, no fitness issues seemed to halt him as his game flowed again, alongside other tennis greats.

But as the Argentine star played after a long time, he made a statement about his comeback plans while talking to the media.

Argentine star dreaming of a comeback

But the star while talking to the Argentine media Pagina12, revealed about his burning desire to come back to the tour. Also, the star talked about his fitness issues. He said, “With the US Open, I have an internal desire, that is to step on the court for the last time and play a worthy game. My health sends me messages that are not compatible with that desire. If in a month, the body tells me that I can’t do it, that I choose another way to close my career, I’m going to listen to it. But every day, I get up to fulfill my wish until I have to make an announcement.”

The fans of the Argentine star would want him to repeat his past thrillers soon. And his Chinese appearance could well be a trailer to all that excitement.
