‘This Is Awesome Bro!’ – Nick Kyrgios Lauds Denis Shapovalov for His New Initiative

It teaches us many values like equality, unity, peace, etc. Further, the athletes act as role models in preaching these values to society. Over the years, we have seen sportspersons like Billie Jean King, Venus Williams, and others raising their voices against injustice and making this world a better place to live in. Recently, Nick Kyrgios praised an initiative of the Canadian tennis star, Denis Shapovalov, in this direction.

Shapovalov took to Twitter to announce the launch of Shapo Shelter for animals. Further, sharing this wonderful news with his fans, he said, “I am so excited to announce the launch of [Shapo Shelter]! I have a huge love for animals and over the years I’ve heard so many cruel stories about animals that were so helpless and I’ve always wanted to do more to help them.”

Subsequently, this new initiative by Shapovalov invited praises from Kyrgios. The Australian said, “This is awesome bro! respect.”

Shapovalov and his team have started this initiative to help animals find homes. Over the years, Shapovalov had heard many stories of animal cruelty which motivated him to start Shapo Shelter. Through this initiative, Shapo Shelter will share stories of such animals and help them find shelter.

The 22-year-old has endured a mixed start to this year. He began this season by playing at the ATP Cup, where he helped Canada lift their maiden title. Further, he managed to dig deep at the Australian Open. Shapovalov reached the quarterfinals before losing to Rafael Nadal in a five-set thriller.

Subsequently, he had a disappointing result in Rotterdam, losing in the first round against Jiri Lehecka. In the next tournament, Shapovalov had a quarterfinal finish in Doha at the Qatar Open. Further, he made it to the semifinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships. However, he had a disappointing outing at the ‘Sunshine Double’. He lost in the third and the second round at the BNP Paribas Open and the Miami Open, respectively.
