“We’ll All Be Watching You Dominate”: Former First Lady Michelle Obama Sends Love to Frances Tiafoe As He Creates History at US Open 2022

Frances Tiafoe has had a great season so far. He recently made his way to the US Open semi-finals and played a nail-biting match against the eventual champion, Carlos Alcaraz. Recently, the former first lady of the US took to her social media account to show her support for her fellow countryman.

During his semi-final match, Tiafoe enjoyed strong support from the crowd. He was motivated by them to compete in the tournament until the very end, despite all odds. Michelle Obama, a former US First Lady who was in the stands to support her fellow countryman, stood in the stands in the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd.

Michelle Obama praises Frances Tiafoe

Mrs. Obama watched the World No.19 battle Carlos Alcaraz and even met him after the game and had a little conversation with him. She recently praised the rising star on Twitter and also posted a picture taken at the time of the semi-final. 

In the post, she said that she believes that he will dominate the sport in the upcoming seasons. The caption reads, “@FTiafoe, I’m so proud of you! You were an amazing force on the court. I have a feeling we’ll all be watching you dominate in the years to come.”

Even Frances was grateful to find support from such huge personalities. He became the first African-American man to reach a grand slam semifinal of a New York major since Arthur Ashe in 1972.

Earlier this month, Tiafoe defeated Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals to become the first American player to reach the semifinals since 2006. The last American player to qualify for the quarter-final at the US Open was Andy Roddick. Roddick fell short to Roger Federer in the championship match. In addition, Roddick won the U.S. Open in 2003, the last American to win a singles Grand Slam title.

Frances’ US open journey came to an end when he lost against Alcaraz in the semi-final. The Spanish sensation ultimately won the US Open championship after reaching the finals. After starting his professional career in 2015, Tiafoe reached his first quarter-final at the Australian Open in 2019.

In the recently concluded US Open, Tiafoe eliminated the 22-time major champion, Rafael Nadal, in the round of 16, making him the only player in this season to overcome the world number three in Grand Slam tournaments.
