World No.1 Novak Djokovic came to the Tokyo Olympics 2020 with a mission to win the Gold medal. The Gold had an even bigger meaning for him this year as he was also on the verge of accomplishing the Calendar Golden Slam- something that no other male player has achieved in the history of the sport. However, things didn’t turn out to be in his favor as he failed to win even a medal in Tokyo.
Novak Djokovic recently lost to Alexander Zverev in the semis of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. On the very same day, he and his partner, Nina Stojanovic, also lost in the mixed doubles category. The Serbian legend had a chance of winning the Bronze medal but he lost to Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta and thus, returned home without a medal.
It is not the end of Djoker’s 2021 season. However, there are high chances that the World No.1 player will miss the Rogers Cup 2021. He has been playing continuously for more than two months now and thus, his body demands some rest before the upcoming hard-court season.
