The latest addition to this star-studded list is Alexander Zverev, who achieved greatness at a very young age. He once had a desire to work with his compatriot and tennis legend, Boris Becker. But the association is yet to happen, mainly owing to Zverev.
A six-time Grand Slam champion, Becker has coached the likes of Novak Djokovic and Holger Rune. But he has yet to coach his fellow country star, Zverev, because he might need to win more tournaments first.

Time and again, Alexander Zverev has revealed his wish to work and train with Boris Becker. The latter is a great coach and has found much success working with Novak Djokovic. Although Zverev desires this move, he is vary of the costs that Becker would bring along.
The 26-year-old German star once said that he couldn’t afford the services of Becker. “Boris could definitely help me to improve my game. But if I want to work with him, first I have to win some tournaments, because at the moment I cannot afford it,” Zverev told Tennis.com.

Zverev is currently coached by his father, Alexander Zverev Sr., and is also helped by his elder brother, Mischa Zverev. On the other hand, Becker is currently coaching Holger Rune. The former stopped working with Djokovic in 2016, ending their four-year successful partnership.

Meanwhile, Becker has often spoken highly about Zverev. He believes that the 26-year-old is a special talent and is even was ready to sacrifice a personal honor for Zverev!

Becker wants Zverev to bring glory to their country
A few years ago, the German tennis legend had a request for Zverev. This came after the latter clinched the ATP Finals title in 2021, defeating Daniil Medvedev in the summit clash. It was Zverev’s second ATP Finals title, after having won it in 2018 as well.
Talking about what aspirations he had for Zverev, Becker said, “I would like him to become the most successful German player of all time. Then we would have a lot to celebrate and we would have a tennis boom in Germany again.”

If the association happens, it could potentially be a game-changer for the German tennis star.
