Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina are the power couple on the tennis circuit. The duo have been together since 2021 and welcomed their daughter Skaï in October 2022. They have been the apple of the eye of the tennis media and tennis fans. The two have been romantically linked since 2019, and their love life has been equally as tempestuous as the tennis matches they both play in.

How did Gael Monfils meet the love of his life, Elina Svitolina?

The couple first interacted, as many do nowadays, online. Although they had known each other for a while, they talked for the first time when Svitolina posted a picture of herself in Paris on Instagram. Monfils worked up the courage to shoot his shot, texting her while she was in his home country.

We met each other, and we could not split anymore. It was an amazing coincidence that both of us were in Paris in the same time because I live in London now and Gael, despite he is from Paris, lives in Geneva,” Svitolina said as per Tennis World USA.

Paris, known around the world as the city of love, brought the two players together. There, they met and fell in love, and have become the power couple famous on the senior tennis circuit.

The documented journey of their relationship on social media

When all parties in a couple are public figures, they tend to keep their relationship private. However, Svitolina and Monfils have shared their journey with their fans on their joint Instagram account. With their 137k followers, the g.e.m.s life account has documented their romantic journey well since 2019.

Their first post was a video that showed various moments of the two having fun. They also added the caption, “There is nothing wrong with being different. 🧩🧩“. Since then, they have shared various pictures together. Their most liked post was added on March 3, 2019. Both were traveling in first class, and Monfils messed with Svitolina, and she cursed her future husband.

They also shared a picture where the two announced their engagement and many more moments of their lives together.

The unification of a power couple

The honeymoon period did not last long for the duo. According to a fellow player, the couple was apart for some time in early 2021 from their romance after two years of dating in a separation that rivals Kim and Kanye’s.

The decision was incredibly difficult because we still have love for each other,” the pair stated in a statement posted online. “But it’s just two best friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”

But, even more astonishingly, the couple reconnected just months later, even going so far as to get engaged. Monfils proposed in April, sharing a snapshot of the ring on Svitolina’s finger on social media. They married three months after they were engaged, in July 2021, wearing purple ensembles for their nuptials. Svitolina wore her “dream dress,” a custom white pantsuit made by Virgil Abloh with a purple tulle train connected to her waist, while Monfils wore a purple suit.
