The book titled, ‘The Master’, written by Christopher Clarey, featured the former Czech–American tennis player talking about Federer’s sheer brilliance on the court.

While comparing her dominating performances to Federer’s, Navratilova said how fans always had a different reaction. She stated, “I was always picking people apart at the net and was faster and stronger, and so they felt sorry for my opponent”.

The 18-time singles Grand Slam champion later lavished praise on the Swiss tennis legend while also talking about how fans reacted to his dominating performances. She said, “With Roger, nobody ever feels sorry for the opponent. They’re admiring his tennis instead of worrying about the other guy he’s picking apart who can’t win a game.”

Apart from this, Navratilova also stated that she thinks Federer’s nationality helped, too. She said, “I mean, he’s from Switzerland, you know; he’s neutral,” she said. “He doesn’t threaten anybody.”

Navratilova revealed how fans treated her differently than other players like Federer

The 18-time singles Grand Slam champion previously talked about various topics like lesbians, and the misogyny of transgender ideology, during an interview with Julie Bindel. Later on, Navratilova opened up about how the tennis community treated her differently. She further compared herself to other tennis greats like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Th 59-time Grand Slam champion went on to say how she was welcomed with muted applause from the fans. She added that there were some jeers and criticizing remarks because she was gay. Later in the interview, Navratilova said that other players like Roger Federer never got that kind of treatment from the fans. She added that there were no jeers when Federer walked onto the court. The fans always cheered for the Swiss tennis legend.
