WNBA Player Pays a Special Tribute to Kobe Bryant & Gianna Bryant

WNBA player Gabby Williams paid a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant. As the WNBA league is set to resume after the break due to the Coronavirus pandemic, players came out with their sneakers and jerseys for the media day.
Williams came out with a custom pair of sneakers that had a picture of Gigi imprinted on them. The 23-year old is currently in her third year at the league. She plays as a power forward for the Chicago Sky who had drafted her in with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 WNBA draft.

Williams felt Gigi was destined to carry forward the legacy of Kobe Bryant
This isnât the first time that Williams has remembered Kobe and Gigi. Not long after their death in a helicopter crash, Williams talked about how good Gigi was as a player.
Gigi and Kobe were headed for a basketball tournament at the Mamba Sports Academy when tragedy struck.

ââFrom what I saw, she was going to be heaps better than me,ââ Williams said after the death of Kobe and Gigi. âShe had the right mentality, so confident, relentless, so mean and aggressive.
âAnd then [she would] walk off the court with the biggest, sweetest smile on her face. But my favorite part about her was just seeing how much she loved the game and loved to learn.
âItâs intimidating to have to follow in those footsteps. But she really embraced it.ââ
Williams also had an Instagram post dedicated to Kobe and Gigi.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend had always shown his support for the WNBA. After he retired, his love for the game showed in his advocacy for the womenâs game.
The WNBA will resume on July 25 with a game between Liberty and Storm. Chicago Sky play their first game against the Las Vegas Aces on the next day.
