“It’s never a closure. It’s never going to be a closure,” James said. “I mean, we continue to live on his legacy and continue to have our hearts heavy with both sadness and with happiness for his family that is still here. So it’s not a closure. But it was a celebration which was well received from not only the Laker faithful, not only the family here, but everybody around the world.”

Bryant played 20 years for the team that James is currently playing. Starting his career in 1996, Kobe won five titles with the Lakers over his career. When he retired in 2016, he left a huge void in the team. The last time Lakers won a title was in 2010 when Bryant was still a part of the team. Lakers signed James in an attempt to bring back glory to Staples Center.

James got the company of Anthony Davis last summer when the Lakers started looking like real contenders for the title. They had a great start to the 2019/20 season and are among the favorites to win the title. They had the second-best record in the NBA before the suspension of the league.
The Lakers restart their campaign on July 30 with a game against local rivals Los Angeles Clippers. They also have three scrimmage games in the week prior to it. The Lakers are certainly among the teams that look set for a long stay inside the Orlando bubble.
