50-0 undefeated and all-time great boxer Floyd Mayweather last played in a pro bout in 2017. Mayweather beat Conor McGregor by technical KO in the 10th round, extending his unbeaten streak to 5-0. However, after the win, he announced that he would retire from pro boxing. Mayweather is now a boxing promoter since retiring from pro boxing in 2017.
There have been several rumors surrounding Mayweather’s comeback to boxing since his third retirement in 2017. However, the 44-year-old has some long-term plans on his mind when it comes to his businesses and investments.

Money Mayweather has brought some of the greatest amounts of money into boxing. He has invested his money in different sectors such as boxing, fashion, clubs, car racing, among others. However, in what could be his biggest investment ever, Mayweather has previously shown interest in owning an NBA team.

In 2017, Mayweather expressed his desire to own an NBA team. During an old interview, he was asked if he’s into fantasy football. Then Mayweather talked about his interest in owning an NBA team.
“As soon as I get an NBA team, I’m going to stop betting. I’m [walking] away from betting,” Mayweather told ESPN. “You can’t bet when you own an NBA team, so I look forward to getting an NBA team in the future. So once I get an NBA team, I’m going to no longer bet.”

He was then asked which NBA franchise is he interested in buying. To this, Mayweather replied that he doesn’t have a team in his mind.
“I don’t know where the team is going to be, but I look forward to having a team someday,” Mayweather replied.

Mayweather has been a regular follower of the NBA. So, it won’t be a surprise if he actually goes on to invest in a franchise. In fact, he even posted a picture of himself with Lakers legend Magic Johnson in 2017, where he mentioned that ‘it’s about time’ for him to buy an NBA franchise. However, there have been no major developments since then.
