Vlhova to challenge Mikaela Shiffrin in Beijing
After hiring a new coach in Mauro Pini, the Slovak’s performances have seen a rapid rise. She won the 2021/22 overall slalom world cup title while winning five out of the seven world cup slalom races. Hiring Pini has helped her focus on her skills and Vlhova is in a better position than she is before. Hoping to become the first Slovakian to win an Alpine skiing gold medal, she is confident in her abilities this season.
“For a long time Mikaela was better than me. However, in the last seasons I showed clearly I am able to beat her often. We respect each other because we both know very well how difficult it is to become the best in the world,” said Vlhova.
