The celebrity chef is now a fitness fanatic and thrives on a clean lifestyle. In an interview with Men’s Health, the 42-year-old opened up about his dark past and how he had rewritten it.

Michael Chernow’s candid interview

The entrepreneur believes that clean eating and a focus on fitness can help people stay in balance. He thanks fitness and a nutritious diet for saving him from the clutches of addictive habits. Recollecting his past from a couple of decades, Chernow said, “There was a moment in time for me from about 13 to 23 where I Dove deep into the world of Darkness.

He added, “I really learned to love alcohol and drugs as a kid and when I was 23 years old.” But his poor lifestyle had cost him his health, and when he realized he couldn’t sustain that any longer, he resolved to better his habits for his own good. “I almost died, and I was lucky enough to get sober,” he confessed in the interview.

To his luck, he encountered a couple of guys during the same time, who advised him to find an outlet to overcome the struggle and said, “Movement is medicine.” Chernow made it his life-saving mantra, and 18 years down the line, he is contributing to the fitness arena in his unique ways. Chernow’s first step toward fitness was learning Muay Thai at the gym.

The 42-YO’s second chance at life

On his friends’ insistence, Chernow started training in Muay Thai, the Thai boxing. “There’s a term that I coined that learned while doing Muay Thai that you’ve got to learn how to love the hard and the hurt,” Chernow revealed in a podcast with BroBible

Soon his muscles gains-built confidence, and he complimented his active lifestyle with clean nutrition. The chef also tried his hands at bodybuilding sports, competing in events. He also had a marathon stint in his fitness legacy. His recent fitness adventures involve a collaboration with CrossFit.
