Although Hafthor Bjornsson did not win the Arnold Sportsman Classic 2024, his initial entry with a massive deadlift of 1006 lbs shocked the entire fitness world. Coming right out of his break of three years, the strongman showed his penchant for extremities which left both his fandom’s expectations as well as the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic’s winner Mitchell Hooper behind.

The 35-year-old strongman who had created history by deadlifting 1104 lbs before has now again leaped into the 1000 lbs race. Yet, Bjornsson is anything but satisfied. As he shared the video clip of him performing the miraculous deadlift, he asked his fans whether they thought he could surpass his old record.

After his stunning performance on the first day of the Arnold Classic, Bjornsson shared a video clip of him lifting the mindblowing 1006 lbs. As it becomes quite evident how easy and smooth he made the lift seem, the strongman further revealed his feelings about the deadlift. In the caption of his post, he wrote, “Easiest 1006lbs deadlift ever?”

The strongman then proceeded to insinuate that he might in fact surpass his own records soon enough. After he stepped into the 500 kg [1102 lbs] zone, he wanted to only move on from there on. Hence, after his magnificent lift this year at the Arnold Strongman Classic, he leaves behind a stirring question to the fans, “Is 505kg deadlift raw possible this year?”
