Arnold Schwarzenegger confessed to doing several exercises even the one that later developed with his title as its name. However, there is one exercise that he learned from a bodybuilder who had one of the most popular gyms.

Vince Gironda was a professional bodybuilder who later became a personal trainer in the 1960s. His popularity grew as his trainee Larry Scott won 2 IFBB Mr. Olympia titles. However, he also owned a gym called Vince’s Gym where bodybuilders like Frank Zane and Arnold Schwarzenegger used to train. Later on, Arnie confessed to learning an essential exercise from the “Iron Guru,” Vince Gironda.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s learning from Vinci Gironda

In one of the viral reels of Arnold Schwarzenegger, old footage was brought up where the bodybuilder was explaining various shoulder exercises he tried during his competitive days. He listed down, “Shoulders. Dumbbell presses. Barbell Presses. In the front and in the back, I mean we always did the rear press, behind the neck the military presses.”

The bodybuilding beast also added how he used to indulge himself with bend-over lateral raises on a bench. He explained how it was a 45-degree angled bench. Arnie also called it a specialty. He stated, “This is a specialty that I’ve learned at Vince Gironda’s gym.” He further recalled how there was a cutout for the face where one could still breathe because it wasn’t possible to breathe sideways.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has also given useful tips to his fans and followers. Through his newsletter, he often imparts knowledge and fitness tips.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s advice on living longer

Through his newsletter, Schwarzenegger told the Arnold’s Pump Club, how a person can add up to 7 years to their lives by simply improving their social relationships. He commented, “Longevity supplements get all the buzz, but more time in the friend zone is what you need if you want to live longer. A review of 148 studies found that people with strong social relationships are associated with living up to 7 years longer.”
