Arnold Schwarzenegger discloses how immigrants enjoy the American dream

It was the perfect portrayal of America in magazines and movies that first led to the spark in ‘The Austrian Oak’s mind. He suddenly got obsessed with his dream to come to America and become a movie star. Fast forward to decades ago, Schwarzenegger is one of the most renowned bodybuilders and action movie stars of his time. During his time with Ryan Holiday, Schwarzenegger explained that people come to America, and the country transforms their lives.

“They come over and they become trainers in Gold’s Gym. And all of a sudden, I see them driving away with a Bentley,” Schwarzenegger stated.  Continuing further, Schwarzenegger revealed, “I said what the hell happened? Two years ago you came to me and said, “Can you help me get a job as a trainer?” And now the guy’s getting $100 an hour. He works 15 hours a day in Gold’s Gym and he’s driving around in nice, beautiful sports cars.”

Even though Schwarzenegger was excited about coming to America, when he first arrived in the States, he was shocked to see that the country was not at all how it is depicted in movies.

Schwarzy‘s realization

Schwarzenegger previously explained that even though bodybuilding is believed to be an American sport, “but in fact, it was not,” Arnold stated. He continued by revealing, “What I read in the magazines that it’s huge, guys getting into movies with bodybuilding, become businessman, successful, and making millions of dollars, none of it was really true.”

However, still, Schwarzenegger believes that the country attracts immigrants. “There’s so many Americans that don’t understand how an immigrant feels about America. And why we love to come over here because it is the greatest place in the world,” Schwarzenegger pointed out.
