Bodybuilding icon, who starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the famed 1977 documentary, Pumping Iron, recently visited the capital of Germany, Berlin. Lou Ferrigno was mesmerized upon reaching the Great Berlin Wall, a symbol of the country’s Cold War segregation. He even penned down a brief note of appreciation for the trip to the heritage site and the city’s historical significance. 

The monument standstill today, compelling the nation to remember the drastic turn of events that separated a single land into two. Hence, owing to its rich historical significance, the athlete felt grateful to have caught a glimpse of it in reality, per his Instagram post. 

Lou Ferrigno visits Deutschland

As per the source that was shared only a day ago, the 71-year-old person visited the Berlin Wall just one day ago. Additionally, he posted a short video of himself standing in front of the 62-year-old landmark. Ferrigno’s caption hinted at the joy he felt upon visiting the site. Besides, he could be heard saying in the video, “I’m at the great Berline wall that was taken down over 30 years ago…Phenomenal. Great piece of history. Wow.”

“What an incredible experience visiting what is left of the Berlin Wall,” he wrote. In contrast to his elation, the wall marks the time of a harsh division in the country, forced upon the Berliners overnight in 1961. It was built to restrict the entry of East Germans into the western part of the country due to the clash of political systems. Eventually, a protest rose amounting to a massive loss of life when the Eastern citizens tried to flee to the democratic segment of the nation.

As per reports, around 140 people were killed or died while trying to cross the border, and were later on taken down in 1989. A dark moment in the history of Germany. Hence, it might come off as a bit harsh for the former Mr. Universe to feel elated while standing at the landmark. Whereas, the latter part of his caption stated, “Berlin has been such a wonderful place to visit. Feeling very blessed.”
