After starting the ‘Arnold’s Pump Club’ newsletter in January, the 7x Mr. Olympia winner has been at the forefront of helping people in their fitness journeys.

In a recent edition of his newsletter, Arnie touched upon a simple tip that can solve a problem that is faced by millions striving to attain better results in their fitness regimes. The former California governor revealed a solution to those struggling to touch their toes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger recommends flexing for more flexibility

Performing more deadlifts can help you touch your toes, the Austrian Oak wrote in the newsletter. Citing research, Schwarzenegger also stated that “strength training led to a significant increase in range of motion and flexibility, and — in some cases — the results were as good as or better than traditional stretching.”

Adding to his tip, the Terminator star also revealed that these improvements in the range of motion happen as muscle strength is increased at the end ranges of motion. In the newsletter, Arnie also explained that such resistance training also leads to stronger muscles and flexible tissues. The Governator further disclosed who would gain the major benefits from following this tip.

Beginners see more improvements, says Schwarzenegger

Schwarzenegger also disclosed the fact that it was, in fact, beginners who saw more range of motion improvements from strength training. Therefore, it did not matter if you were super strong or were a new entrant into the fitness world, it is imperative that you focus on strength training.

The legend also added a disclaimer to his tip, stating that “all types of resistance training didn’t lead to better flexibility.” Arnie also touched upon the love for calisthenics that most fitness enthusiasts had. He wrote that performing such bodyweight exercises did not contribute to a rise in the range of motion compared to traditional stretching.
