Recently, fitness influencer Alex Eubank raised concern among his bodybuilding followers when he had to be taken away by an ambulance during a gym session. Following a 48-hour fast, Alex felt severe discomfort in his chest and had to halt his workout. While Alex was already wearing a heart monitor for medical analysis, the episode further ignited fears about his heart health.

Days after the incident, Greg Doucette, an IFBB Pro bodybuilding coach and YouTuber, released a video expressing serious concern, titled “Be Careful Alex Eubank.” In the video, Doucette dissects Eubank’s condition and speculates on potential underlying causes. He highlights the irregular heart rhythms Eubank is experiencing, emphasizing that they are more disturbing and possibly more serious than mere muscle pain.

To provide context, Eubank is currently wearing a Zio heart monitor for 10-14 days to analyze his heart activity continuously. The device can detect arrhythmias and abnormal rhythms in the heart that could signify underlying issues. Although Eubank continues to train, he avoids pre-workout supplements. “He did not take a pre-workout he’s going to train on water alone.” Because they can sometimes trigger Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) in individuals who are genetically predisposed.

Eubank’s decision to attempt a Personal Record (PR) on the bench press while under cardiac monitoring confuses Doucette. Despite experiencing arrhythmia symptoms even at rest, Eubank loaded 275 pounds onto the bench press bar and successfully completed two repetitions. Doucette questions the prudence of lifting such heavy weights under the current circumstances, advising a more conservative approach.

Another significant point Doucette brought up was Eubank’s unusually high testosterone levels—932 nanograms per liter, to be exact. Compared to Doucette’s own levels of 549 while on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), “compare to mine my previous blood work I had 549 nanograms leader.” Eubank’s figures raise eyebrows. Doucette speculated that Eubank might be taking clomiphene, an estrogen blocker, which could also affect heart health.

Eubank has acknowledged that he also suffers from anxiety, and Doucette suggests that the condition could be amplifying his heart symptoms. When experiencing palpitations, Eubank’s anxiety could increase, making it difficult to distinguish between a minor issue and a life-threatening problem. Yet, the fact remains that experiencing arrhythmias at rest is far from normal.

Given the anxiety, Eubank may opt to train late at night when gyms are quieter. This is to avoid crowds that could trigger his stress levels. However, understanding the psychological component is only a part of the puzzle; medical tests are necessary to rule out any congenital or acquired heart diseases.

The situation surrounding Eubank’s heart health is of genuine concern. Doctors must determine whether the issues are solely stress-related or indicate a more significant problem. Eubank’s experiences serve as a cautionary tale for fitness enthusiasts. It emphasizes the importance of listening to your body and taking proactive steps when something feels off.
