The caption written by Phil reads, “Here are a few ways my 82-year-old Grandad has managed to stay so fit and strong for so long 💪🏻…Despite battling an incurable form of cancer my Grandad has continued to do his best every single day, never taking his ability to move for granted.” It is incredible how the ‘LEANSQUAD’ founder’s grandfather beat a deadly disease by maintaining his food habits, strength training, and disciplined life.

Phil also wrote, “p.s. Do not worry if you haven’t prioritized your own physical health lately. It’s never too late to get started. Any changes you start implementing NOW will pay off massively in the years to come. I really hope my Grandad inspires you to either get started or keep going like he does for me!!💙🙌🏻.”
Just like Phil’s grandfather, Ted Clifton, an 81-year-old gym owner and bodybuilder from Workington, Cumbria, still competes in bodybuilding challenges.

Ted Clifton defies age with his bodybuilding
At the age of 81, health issues are a given, but they did not stop Ted from continuing his fitness exercises. Clifton has his gym, which he opened in 1978! He says, “I’ve run Ted’s gym for 44 years… I opened it in November 1978.”
Ted worked at oil rigs for 15 years, after which he opened his gym. Ted started bodybuilding to bulk up for football when he was 16, and since then, he has not stopped. The great-grandpa has always loved bodybuilding, and he did not let a triple bypass surgery stop him.
