Arnold Schwarzenegger has been going to the Gold’s Gym since the start of his bodybuilding career. Even at 75, he still rides his bike to the Gold’s Gym in Venice, California, and engages in training in the outdoor section of the gym. As the seven-time Mr. Olympia winner is a major name in the spot, one might expect that he receives special privileges at Gold’s.

However, in the new episode of the ‘Smartless’ podcast, the Austrian Oak had a different story to tell. The former governor apparently does not take up any perks when it comes to using the historic gym.

Arnold Schwarzenegger always asks for

During the podcast, while talking about his 45-minute bike ride and Gold’s Gym workout, he made the hosts curious about the process. Owing to this, they asked whether the Terminator had a special place reserved in the gym for his workouts. The humble Arnie dismissed this notion completely. He said, “No I mean there’s no reason to approach it that way. I just always when someone sits in that machine or when someone works out on a machine I just ask ‘You mind if I work in with you?'”

Furthermore, when asked about the way he gets about doing exercises with others, the Austrian Oak revealed, “I go from machine to machine to machine. And so it’s easy for me to just ask people if I can cut in, and then I’m more than happy to do that. So there’s no problem with that. It’s just a matter of attitude without saying to someone, Hey, get off the bench.”

Arnie never compromises on his workouts, and even at 75, he is fitter than most young people. However, there is another reason for him choosing to go the Gold’s Gym for his workouts.

Why is the Gold’s Gym special to Arnie?

While appearing on Here Comes the Sun, host Tracy Smith asked Arnie why he still rides the bike to the legendary gym despite having a state-of-the-art gym at home. The Gold’s Gym has had the most famous bodybuilders come and train there, and Schwarzenegger was no different.

He had a simple answer for the reason of going to Gold’s Gym. He said, “I like working out with people.” While the legend has everything at home, it cannot replace the essence of Gold’s Gym, so he prefers going there for old times’ sake.
