Despite having all the success in his professional life as a bodybuilder, Hollywood star, as well as a politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger has not had the best of relationships in his personal life. After having a troubled childhood and a bad bond with his father, things did not get easier as he divorced Maria Shriver back in 2021 after being separated in 2011. 

However, Schwarzenegger made sure to not let this impact the rest of the family. After all, he admits, it was his fault that ended the marriage, so the couple decided to have ‘separate lives.’ Fortunately, things did get better for ‘The Austrian Oak’ as he started dating Heather Milligan. In a recent interview ahead of his new book launch, Schwarzenegger opens up about the bond that he shares with his long-time girlfriend Heather Milligan.

For more than a decade now, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been dating Heather Milligan who is a physical therapist. The couple met back in 2012 when Arnold and Sylvester Stallone were working on the film ‘Escape Plan.’ The couple recently attended Oktoberfest in Munich together and can often be seen riding bikes around Santa Monica. 

Schwarzenegger revealed in an interview with People.com that he loves Milligan’s entrepreneurial spirit. “We have so many things in common,” he said. “Our relationship is fantastic. I think the world of her. I love that she’s into working. She’s clearly independent. She just is driven as hell,” added ‘Arnie.’

Despite being together for almost a decade now, Schwarzenegger has not expressed any plans to marry Milligan yet. But why is that? Let’s take a look.

Schwarzenegger admits the reason behind not going for a second marriage

When Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver got divorced back in 2021, Schwarzenegger had to pay a hefty paycheck of around $400 million to Shriver. In December 2022, Radar Online reported that an insider source revealed the star denying marriage plans. While he and Heather have stuck around for about a decade, the star doesn’t wish to bear another financial burden. Talking about this once, Schwarzenegger once quoted what his mother said after Gustav, Arnold’s father, passed away.

“I [asked her], ‘If you meet somebody else, are you gonna get married again?’ She says, ‘Nope. There was only your father, whose underwear I washed. I’m not going to wash another guy’s underwear.’” Arnold said, mentioning his mother’s point of view regarding the same. The former bodybuilder added, “So I say exactly the same thing.”
