As the sad news of online sensation and bodybuilder, Jo Linder’s death is taking the fitness world by storm, bodybuilding legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s take against steroid abuse and its safety impacts on athletes is gaining recognition. Months ago, the star athlete voiced his opinion against the popularity of bodybuilding drugs in the current generation of bodybuilders. 

In an interview with Men’s Health once, Arnie elucidated how the sport of bodybuilding was always a comparatively safer sport. However, with the rise of steroids and their abuse among the youth, the community is suffering irreversible consequences, going as far as death.

According to the interview, the 75-year-old pro opened up about his past with steroids and was concerned about the current bodybuilders. He warned them not to follow in his footsteps and simply stay away from steroids. Speaking of his association with the drugs, he revealed he was taking testosterone and Dhol with a dosage of 100 mg per week.

Despite that, Arnie is mindful of his influence on the youth and clarified that experts always supervised his doses. After they made it illegal in 1990, the usage of steroids has taken more of a controversial stance. Nevertheless, many notable athletes have admitted to using it. Arnie said in the chat with Men’s Health, “Bodybuilding always, always was considered a safe sport. But now it’s not. Now people are dying.”

The Austrian Oak reasoned that the fatality has increased because of overdoses and irresponsible use of PEDs. In addition to that, the athlete accused several trainers of misguiding upcoming athletes with poor advice. Arnie called them “charlatans.” He simply advised the youth, Don’t go there,since it’s not worth playing with life in that manner. However, that was not all of his expert insight on the issue.

Aware of the scenario in today’s generation, the 6’2″ star claimed that youngsters always look for an easy way to make money, the fastest way to get rich or get recognition as an influencer. But not staying cautious of one’s health can lead to permanent damage later on. He said, “Anytime you abuse the body, you’re going to regret it.”

Moreover, he asserted that the former pro has seen people struggling with their health and suffering “tremendously” after getting kidney transplants. Steroids usually adversely affect the kidneys, at times leading to complete dysfunction.
