In an exclusive chat with the God of Aesthetics, Frank Zane, on the Essentially Sports Fancast, the 81-year-old former bodybuilder gave bodybuilding fans a peek into his current preference in terms of supplements. When Zane was asked by the host, if he still consumes anything in particular to keep himself more athletic, he did have a small list that might surprise bodybuilding fans.

The aesthetic beast who had once defeated none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger opened up about the specific supplements that were his go-to when he was competing or for his recovery or growth in general.

The three-time Mr. Olympia winner revealed in the exclusive interview that, unlike many other bodybuilders, he prefers Amino Acids over everything else. “The main thing I’ve always taken is Amino Acids in free form.” Then he went into detail by pinpointing the exact one he would usually take. He also stated the amount that he was taking: “I was taking what is called Super Sports put out by Montiff. It’s basically 16 Amino Acids in free form. And I take anywhere from 9 to 20 a day. I took a lot more than that when I was competing,” Zane told the host, Vishal Kolar.

When asked about the present-day ster**d culture prevalent within modern bodybuilding, and whether it was possible to compete in the arena without harming one’s life and longevity, he claimed that he does not have a say because he is not involved in it. However, the 81-year-old proceeded to give budding bodybuilders a piece of simple advice as well. “I think there’s a way to do anything,” he said.

Zane also explained how, in case he had to choose, he would choose the natty path. “My pursuit would be pretty much a natural approach. Taking vitamins and specially, free-form amino acids,” he added.

The EssentiallySports Fancast Interview also had Zane speaking about the common mistakes that are made by young bodybuilders while on their highly ambitious journeys. Let us see what he thought these were.

When Zane was asked about his opinions on what are the most common mistakes that young bodybuilders make these days, the bodybuilder instead of pointing it out, gave some guidance on how to approach the sport, “Well, take your time to do a good job. It doesn’t happen overnight. Follow a good guide. I put up materials because you know, I am an educator.” He further mentioned that one of his books, 91 Day Wonder Body, can become a good source.
