Mike O?Hearn is known for fun social media content, along with his illustrious bodybuilding career and fitness podcasts. The son of a schoolteacher, strived through a lot of difficulties to become a four-time Mr. Natural Universe and four-time powerlifting champion, among other achievements. The 54-year-old bodybuilder and father still maintain the same vigor and enthusiasm for exercise and fitness that he had in his youth. In ‘Generation Iron’ and Barbend?s recent episode of ‘The Mike O?Hearn Show’, the fitness icon sat down with addiction recovery expert, Adam Jablin. They discussed the topic of addiction concerning exercise and bodybuilding and also brought other perspectives to the forefront. In this context, Mike implored everyone to do weightlifting,?

Mike O?Hearn and Adam Jablin delve deep into the dichotomy of addiction and fitness

The podcast was rich with conversations on the dangers of addiction to anything. This included fitness, the impact of social media on youth, and the importance of finding self-control and balance in one?s passion. Adam shared his experience with working alongside addiction survivors and pushing them into something healthy, such as weightlifting. This brought him to talk about the addiction to fitness which can also take place in some cases.

While discussing, helping people with addiction, Adam Jablin said, ?They need that outlet, they need to find that thing and, you know if you break this down, this is our health and wellness. Mike what they need is this!? Mike agrees and added, ?I think we both agree on that today, everybody needs to be weightlifting. Everybody should be taking care of their temple and eating as best they possibly can.? O?Hearn also added how a small change can be significant, ?You?re saying these things today about addiction, and about being committed and dedicated to things. But it’s just a little change over time that can do so much.?

At one point Adam went deeper and asked Mike about his relationship with the fitness regime and his physique, ?You are detached from the result in the mirror…? To this, Mike profoundly answered, ?If I?m gonna try to hold onto something, it’s gonna wreck me.? O’Hearn further shared how he learned to embrace on-season and off-season through the advice of Joe Weider. Along with this, he has also shared his ideas on staying focused in his previous posts.

In a previous post, O?Hearn talked about something very similar to what he discusses in the latest podcast.?According to him, one must be willing to participate in their life.?He stressed the fact that there is no magic formula or shortcut to success and it takes hard work.

He talked about focus and commitment and said,??You cannot just be sitting down at the bleachers and contemplate.? It is also important to surround oneself with like-minded individuals who have the same goal. This will not only help with motivation but also with overcoming addiction as per the podcast.
