In the bodybuilding world, the main motive is always to have the perfect muscular body and a flawless posing game in order to win any competitions. However, once an athlete starts winning competitions and climbing up the ladder, they are introduced to a deeper web. This web only familiarizes itself with only very few and is certainly not accessible to someone outside the industry. This includes a meticulously planned path by the controllers of the industry. Numerous athletes in the bodybuilding world have had to go through this political game. However, very few get the chance to reveal it to the world.

34-year-old internet, bodybuilding mass monster, Bradley Martyn was brave enough to reveal a darker secret of the bodybuilding industry. He also expressed how this process works, and why he had started hating the industry because of it.

The YouTube video started with Martyn talking about why he had started exercising and bodybuilding. He said that his primary motive was to become stronger but slowly he started taking an interest in bodybuilding. The American delved deeper into the intricacies of why the body was doing what it was doing. Martyn noted that his first trainer told him to compete in bodybuilding competitions. After coming fifth, for the first time, he won on his second try. However, he heard a secret from other people in the industry. People said to him that certain athletes win because they are with a particular organization or a client of a specific person, so there is underlying favoritism. He said, “Man f**k this industry, f**k these people.”

So in 2011, Martyn started his bodybuilding journey in the men’s physique category. Since it was a new class, he did not know what to expect and he did not prepare solely for winning. The 34-year-old even disclosed that he ate a pizza the day before the competition. However, among eight people he came fifth. After he learned about the secret and started making his way to the top, there was a slight change. Martyn said, “But even later on after I started to get more popular those people who basically put that person in that position to beat me came back and tried to get me to be a part of their team.”

Nevertheless, the YouTube star was not happy about the system but still worked hard so that he could earn favor amongst the personnel who had a clear favorite in mind. Martyn has even discussed the twisted system with veteran bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman before.

YouTube short video posted by AEG Fitness saw, the eight-time Mr. Olympia winner, and the bodybuilder turned MMA fighter, speaking about politics and classic physique. Bradley said, “The men’s physique stuff, when it first came out, like the very first few shows, and then I realized I hated the industry. Because of the whole like political bulls**t”.

He shed light on the truth behind bodybuilding competitions. The American said, “I got second at the USA’s men’s physique competition. Because I didn’t have a certain coach. And the coaches connected to the promoters. That’s why I didn’t win and all. Yeah, all this crazy s**t.

The industry of bodybuilding can be cutthroat and harsh but it is not possible to estimate the inner cogs of the industry from the outside. Many talents, like Bradley Martyn, lose their opportunity to make a better name in the ruthless race due to backstage politics.
