The sport of bodybuilding is not for the faint-hearted. Despite weeks of intense dieting and grueling training sessions, winning on a bodybuilding stage is no easy feat. And it becomes all the more difficult when you are competing for the prestigious Mr. Olympia title. As this year’s contest just winded up a short while ago, fans and people associated with the fitness and bodybuilding community have been expressing their views about Derek Lunsford dethroning Hadi Choopan. 

While many seem to believe that the victory was fair, a lot of Hadi Choopan fans are accusing the judges and the federation of being biased and even racist. Coming to the rescue, IFBB Pro Marc Lobliner, who has also coached multiple bodybuilding shows, gave his take on the same. Calling out Hadi Choopan’s fans for their toxic behavior, he explained how the federation was not biased and Lunsford’s victory was well-deserved. 

Marc Lobliner gives his honest take on the matter

Lobliner himself has a long history in the sport of bodybuilding. Apart from having an illustrious bodybuilding career, Lobliner is also a fitness coach, judge, and personal trainer. He owns his supplement and gym line as well. He recently posted a video on his Instagram where he called out the people who have been questioning the fairness of this year’s judgement. The caption of the post read, “Hadi Chopan Fans Have Lost Their Minds.”

Lobliner stated, “Hadi actually won the Olympia, he was the reigning champ. You can’t argue that it’s racist. You can’t. It’s stupid.” Continuing further, he pointed out that Big Ramy, who is Egyptian, won the contest twice in a row. Then Choopan was the one who lifted the Sandow last year. “So it’s not a Semitic thing. It’s not a racist thing,” Lobliner explained.

Lobliner continues by suggesting the fans to move on 

The 42-year-old further continued by pointing out that there are countless things that a normal person can not witness from their seats or while viewing the show on a screen. The judges, however, are qualified enough to understand even the most intricate details. This is why Lobliner thinks that the win was fair enough, as the judges must have noticed something that was not there in Choopan’s physique this year.

 “It’s not racism. It’s not politics. It’s because the judges made the right choice in their minds. They’re at the judge’s table. You’re not. So get out of your tribal bubble. Stop this whole conspiracy theory BS at the end of the day, Hadi looked amazing. Derek looked amazing. It was close…Derek pulled off the victory. That’s it,” Lobliner pointed out.
