Arnold Schwarzenegger’s list of achievements is countless and his field of work has also been varied. After winning 7 Mr. Olympia titles, he proved his power and authority over the sport. However, in a recent interview, he talked about one of his failures during one such exercise.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s failed exercise

In an interview with Town and Country Magazine, Schwarzenegger was featured talking about his personal and professional life. Amidst a variety of other topics, he finally reached the point when he needed to talk about the very first instance when he tried out a 500-pound bench press. He stated with no sense of hesitation, “I remember the first time I tried to bench-press 500 pounds. It was in front of a packed house at a powerlifting championship in Munich. I failed miserably. The weight came down. I couldn?t even lift it off my chest one inch.”

However, it did not bring down his motivation. Instead, it made him even more determined to do what was needed. He further remarked, “I tried it eight more times, nine more times, and failed. But then I tried a 10th time, and I did it. Did I consider myself a failure those first nine times? No, I felt like, ‘Okay, that?s what makes me grow. And eventually, we?ll get there.?

In his interview with the 92nd Street Y, Schwarzenegger extensively talked about how individuals can make themselves useful in so many ways. He firmly believes that in a society where poverty and crisis are common occurrences, everyone can employ themselves in such a way that they can help others. Thus, he reflected, “I always tell people, ?Don?t sit in front of the TV and complain how terrible things are out there in the world.'”
