When it comes to jaw-dropping physical transformations in Hollywood, one name stands out: Chris Hemsworth. Known for his role as the mighty Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hemsworth’s ripped physique has become a fan favorite now. Behind these remarkable transformations stands Luke Zocchi, the Australian celebrity personal trainer who has played an instrumental role in Hemsworth’s fitness journey. Together, this dynamic duo has captivated audiences worldwide with their dedication, hard work, and impressive results.

During ‘Extraction 2’, which was their 17th film together, Hemsworth and Zocchi mainly targeted functional workouts and recovery instead of weight training as he was already from his last role in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder.’ During his recent interview with Insider.com, Zocchi revealed the training regimen that Chris followed and confessed why most people won’t be able to achieve the physique he has.

When it comes to physical fitness and athletic performance, we often marvel at the remarkable achievements of individuals who seem to excel effortlessly. What we often fail to consider is the role of genetics in a transformation. Talking along the same lines, his trainer for his recently released movie ‘Extraction 2’ revealed that despite all hard work and determination, most people will never be able to achieve the physique that Hemsworth carries.

Explaining the reasoning behind this, Zocchi stated, “Even when Chris gets lean, he still looks pretty big because you just see how much definition there is in his arms and how much muscle he naturally holds.”

He even revealed that there have been a few projects in the past where they had to get his arm size down a bit for the role, as he was carrying too much muscle. Being friends with him since school, Zocchi and Hemsworth know each other for a very long time now. “He’s got really good genetics. I hate him sometimes,” Luke added.

According to Zocchi, Hemsworth’s role in ‘Thor’ ensured that he was carrying a big ‘Greek-god’ physique. But for the role of a commando in ‘Extraction 2,’ he had to get leaner and more athletic looking. For this very reason, Hemsworth relied on CrossFit and Pilates mostly backed up with proper nutrition and recovery methods.

For his commando role in ‘Extraction 2,’ Chris mostly indulged in pilates and circuit training. The rest time in between each set/ round was kept at a bare minimum to ensure a good enough heart rate to get Hemsworth in shape. After a hectic workout session, proper recovery had to be ensured. For this, “We had a really good physio we worked with, but a lot of saunas and ice baths as well,” Zocchi said.

“He was just exhausted from these fight scenes,” Zocchi said. “He was basically fighting the whole day for a section of the movie, so that’s when we really honed in on recovery.”
