Mamdouh Elssbiay, A.K.A., Big Ramy, is a huge name in the bodybuilding world. The pro bodybuilding champion won the 2020 and 2021 Mr. Olympia titles. Ramy, after winning consecutive titles was a favorite in 2022’s Mr. Olympia competition. But, the result did not go his way as he was placed 5th, and Hadi Choopan took the crown home. However, in a recent YouTube podcast on Muscle and Fitness, bodybuilding veterans discussed many aspects of the sport, and a head judge was among them who told the reason why Ramy lost.

The bodybuilding icons present were Dennis James, Milos Sarcev, Chris Cormier, and Steve Weinberger. They talked about fitness, bodybuilding, and competitions. While talking about Ramy’s last year’s performance, IFBB head judge Steve Weinberger said there was something “off” with his physique in 2022. Here is what went down.

To this, Steve replied, “You know he was here all week training. We had talked right after the Olympia. We had a talk even during this last previous week”

Steve added, ” I think he might need a break, honestly. “Steve also advised about Big Ramy’s legs and said, “Leave his legs alone. His legs are way out of proportion, his back still has to come up, and his shoulders and arms look like they kind of deflated a little bit.” Clearing all the doubts about Ramy’s future, he said, “ I don’t think he’s done”.

Per Weinberger, Ramy needs a break

Further in the interview, Dennis James tells that Big Ramy “ is also doing a stem cell treatment. Where they tell him now to not train his upper body.” So this treatment is the reason he is not training his upper body for two more weeks. And then Dennis comes back to what Steve said about leaving the legs alone. So ultimately Steve’s advice adds up to the situation.

After this, Steve again implores, “ He might need a year break honestly.” To this, Chris asked, “ What would you mean by a break there how long?” Steve replied, “Like I mean, not dieting, hard, core training, put that mass back on, and then bring it back down.”
