Acknowledging his triumphs in the domain, the star athlete recently shared an intriguing update on Instagram. He insinuated at the time when his reign had just begun while flaunting the ripped back he had achieved in his prime.

Dorian Yates recounts his peak years

Taking to Instagram only hours ago, the 61-year-old bodybuilder posted a picture of his jacked physique, spotlighting his superior back conditioning. The level of muscle definition achieved was jaw-dropping, leaving no room for doubt over his 6-year reign on the Mr. Olympia stage. “One from my prep files!” Yates hinted in the caption.

The IFBB pro explained that the picture was a shot from 1992, while he was training at the Temple gym in England. He noted, “taken during my contest prep, a few weeks out from the Mr. Olympia.” In addition to that, the English athlete also disclosed that Mr. Olympia GOAT Lee Haney had also retired by then. Hence, the competition was a tad bit less at that point.

Thus, it was the ideal time for Yates’ to begin his glorious journey and cement his name into the halls of bodybuilding history. The athlete concluded, “This was the year I’d begin my reign.” On a different note, the champ once revealed a secret that influenced his superior physique.

Dorian Yates’ secret technique

The 5’10 star athlete took the opportunity to share a throwback picture of himself and revealed a secret tactic that bolstered his post-workout regime. He claimed that after intense workouts, his simple strategy was to eat his post-workout meal and then doze off for a period. “I’d head home to eat my post-workout meal and then sleep for two hours,” Yates stated.

Furthermore, discussing the significance of sleep in his lifestyle, Dorian highlighted that sleep was “so important” to him that he managed to get eight hours of sleep every night, and an additional two hours of a power nap in the afternoon.

Dorian Yates was quite mindful of his physique and took enough time to also recover from the intense training schemes he followed. Notably, all of this was done in the shadow, away from all the attention despite the athlete’s immense fame.
