Strongman legend and actor, Hafthor Bjornsson injured his left pectoral muscle recently while attempting a heavyweight bench press at a powerlifting meet. Thus, it came off as a huge setback for his professional career in the field. Although the athlete takes full responsibility for the consequences, there is another individual who holds credibility for the same.

Notable coach, who also trained Bjornsson, Sebastian Oreb recently shared a post on Instagram, dedicated to the champion’s situation. A fan’s query during his AMA session on the platform asked him if he felt responsible for the pro’s injury. Hence, Oreb let out his thoughts on the matter.

Bjornsson’s coach takes the blame

As per the source which surfaced 2 months ago, the coach posted a video of himself talking about how he felt about the Icelandic athlete’s injury. “Of course I do, if I’m gonna take the credit for his success, then I must also take credit for the mistakes along the way,” he said in the video. Furthermore, the Australian Strength coach chipped in an elaborate note on the instance in his caption.

“…the short answer is yes. I’m part of the success and I’m also part of the failures,” a part of his note read. Describing the incident, Oreb elucidated that Thor tore his pec while trying to bench press 252.5 kgs, which, if successful, would have been a personal best for the athlete. Moreover, he was back in strength training for only less than a year, when his injury happened.

Hence, the professional claimed to have taken the risk based on his prior attempts in the day and how strong Thor seemed. Oreb mindfully stated that competitors at that level certainly have risks involved, however, the team tries to be “as calculated as possible.” Besides that, he also added a special message for the Game of Thrones actor.

The latter part of the coach’s caption hailed the 34-year-old athlete as one of the most “accomplished” strength athletes in history. “and this doesn’t come without setbacks,” Oreb admitted. Additionally, he confirmed that he might not be Thor’s spokesperson, but he is assured that the athlete is doing his best to recover as soon as possible.

Apart from that, Thor is under the best medical treatment available, and staff, who are helping him get back into action soon with a 100% recovery.
