He first competed in 2015 and since then, Lunsford is in a successful climb. After coming very close to his first Mr. Olympia title, the legend will be competing in the challenge in 2023 again.

Lunsford posted pictures on Instagram of his incredible physique and wrote a heartfelt message with them.

Derek said, ?Back when shredz was life. ?. A couple of weeks before the 2021 Olympia. This was my 5th year competing in the 212 division and the first year working with @hanyrambod. I remember this time very vividly. It was exhausting every day, but it was worth the outcome. I brought my best physique to the stage and came away with the 212 Mr. Olympia title. ????.?

After reminiscing about the hard work during 2021, he came back to the present and updated everyone about his prep. Lunsford wrote, ?As we just locked in for the 2023 prep? I?m looking forward to seeing the improvements of the last two years unfold in November at this year?s Olympia.?

Lastly, Derek also gave a very important moral message, ?We bring the best look, the best version of ourselves to the stage. Weight can be deceiving. The goal is not a weight, the goal is to bring our best! ??.? Even when he was battling mental health issues, he strived to train every day.

Lunsford opens up about his mental health issues

That is when Lunsford explained?that even if he likes to watch videos related to bodybuilding, he remains careful about his watch time so that he does not overdo it. He said, ?Actually, I do the same thing. I like to watch other stuff that?s not just bodybuilding related. I like to know what?s going on in the body-building scene stuff? it?s motivating. I know we?ve talked about it over the last 2 preps to monitoring your watch time.?
