“It’s All Manufactured”: 25x World Record Powerlifter Vehemently Shames the “Ugly Side” of Beauty Standards

The bodybuilding industry is full of chiseled men and women who have a Greek God physique. However, even the best people in the industry face body image issues and the pressure of society. Since they have a lot of fans, the icons of fitness often encourage their followers to embrace themselves. Dr. Stefi Cohen is one such fitness influencer. She is a 25X world record-holding powerlifter and the first woman in history to deadlift 4.4 times her body weight. Apart from this, the champion and social media influencer is a doctor of physical therapy.

In a recent Instagram upload, she talked about body positivity and how social media can create misconceptions. Stefi knows her platform and her power, so she used it in a good way to guide her followers.

In a recent post on Instagram on 17 June 2023, Cohen discussed the societal standards of beauty. Stefi explained how everyone, even bodybuilding athletes is challenged by them. She wrote, “The ugly side of beauty Is the pressure we allow ourselves to feel to uphold an arbitrary standard brought about by an entire industry that profits off our insecurities.”

Cohen talked about the beauty and social media industry and how they bring about a huge negative impact on people’s identities. Still, she gave a silver lining on the dark clouds and said, “The reality is, it’s all manufactured bulls**t that means nothing. You’re beautiful inside and out.”

The 31-year-old champion had talked about the double standards of beauty in social media. She was seen flaunting her chiseled muscles and highly conditioned arms. In that post, she shed light on the body image and beauty standards she is expected to have.

Stefi wrote, “Praised for breaking barriers, yet criticized for not fitting society’s beauty standards: a constant battle we face every day in an attempt to defy odds and show the world what strength and beauty can look like.” Stefi gave her voice to the fact that all people, especially women have to abide by the unnecessary beauty standards of society. She defended her fellow athletes and said that these stereotypes do not define a person.
