Although his father was the mighty Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joseph Baena did not start with a jacked physique from early on. In fact, he was bullied during childhood, after which he chose to undergo a transformation.

As a young boy, Baena explained how he had been rather chubby and had always been bullied by other kids, especially by his close friends. It disturbed him truly. So he started his initial weight loss journey. “It was my closest friends that were the ones that bullied me the most and made fun of me for being overweight and all these kinds of things.” Yet this journey of weight loss has been quite on and off for Baena.

He further mentioned, “I didn’t really start hitting the gym until my junior year of college.” Baena revealed that he needed to get a jacked physique because he was also getting rejected for soccer and basketball because of his body, and he needed to change, and make it last. The trigger for that change came from none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger when he gifted Baena a copy of the Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding, a book that the Austrian Oak himself had written. Baena read the book by heart and, according to him, “That really started my addiction to the gym.”
