Bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger has gone through several health-related issues in his lifetime. Despite being a pioneer in driving good health and fitness throughout his life, Schwarzenegger had to suffer from heart problems, for which he has undergone multiple surgeries. Now, at age 75, the seven-time Mr. Olympia is still adamant about making a difference in people’s lives and has shared an interesting anecdote about a particular “superfood”. He also explained how it blows all other regular food items out of the water in terms of better health and lowering the risk of heart disease.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has once again come out with a new chapter in his newsletter, one where he addresses his ‘village’ people’s concern about having a superfood that will improve their well-being significantly.

Arnold Schwarzenegger provides a great alternative to everyday food items

In Arnold Schwarzenegger’s latest edition of his newsletter, ‘Arnold’s Pump Club’, the former bodybuilder touched upon the subject of having one superfood that covers all health bases. He said, “If you’re looking for a “superfood” that doesn’t cost much, is available almost everywhere, and has more benefits than we can count, it’s time to rethink grains”. It’s not that regular food items don’t have any benefits, but whole grains provide far superior health benefits.

Schwarzenegger continued, “Whole grains support lower weight, cholesterol, and blood pressure, and they help reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and multiple forms of cancer”. Schwarzenegger maintains that grains are the best choice if one must rely on a single food source, and there is research to support this.

Schwarzenegger also shared a review of 780,000 people who had tried whole grains and had a “22% lower risk of total mortality, a 23% lower risk of cardiovascular disease mortality, and a 20% lower risk of cancer mortality”. It’s called a superfood for a reason.

How Schwarzenegger’s tryst with heart risks increased his concerns for others

Schwarzenegger’s main reason for taking an interest in whole grains and branding them as a one-stop food for better health has to do mainly with how good they are for the heart. He has previously had three heart surgeries in his life and is more than concerned about the risks of cardiovascular diseases for everyone in his ‘village’. He even once shared scary statistics about the correlation between lack of sleep and an increase in heart attacks.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, however, doesn’t really scare all his members into giving up any normal food. He does suggest that eating “white bread” and “white rice” is still enjoyable, but it doesn’t bear the same health benefits as eating “whole grains.” In fact, he urges everyone to mix the two to enjoy a delicious and nutritious meal together.
