Competitive bodybuilding often requires bodybuilders to sacrifice their comforting lives and enter into a world of discipline for one goal alone. For Phil Heath, like many others, this grind for a bodybuilding trophy became a part of his life. But in the process, he was never allowed to enjoy the fulfillment of his wishes.

Phil Heath confessed to having never enjoyed his victories

Hany Rambod recently talked to Phil Heath about how a competitive bodybuilder is always in the process of chasing something big: a prize, a trophy, a title. In reply, Phil Heath spoke from his experience of the reality of this very thought. Heath stated how he felt after each victory, “It’s like all right let’s go get another one. All right we got the other one. Let’s go, get another one. Oh, we get the gold one, it’s cool it’s cool. Oh, they’re bringing out a new one, let’s see how many of those we can get.”

He revealed how he had left behind important elements and people just to get a trophy. Phil Heath confessed, “I had to sacrifice everything I had to give up people that got left behind, opportunities that I had to give up. There’s a lot of business stuff that I had to say no to just do this.”

As a coach, Hany Rambod seems extremely proud of Phil Heath. So much so that he often likes to bring up Heath’s victories.

Hany Rambod talks about Heath’s Sandow collection

Right after Mr. Olympia 2023, Hany Rambod featured Derek Lunsford in an interview. When they were talking about Sandow Trophies, Hany Rambod couldn’t restrict but talk about how Phil Heath had variety in his Sandow collection. Rambod stated, “Phil has three different Sandows. He has the old version that Ronnie has, he has the new version that you have, and then he has the 50th Anniversary golden version.”

As Heath’s statement signifies, bodybuilding can be challenging as well as addicting. When ambition hits, competitors may even forget to live in the moment and enjoy their victories. Would Phil Heath have won as many titles if he had relaxed and enjoyed the moment? Let us know in the comments below.
