The Austrian Oak, who recently published a self-help book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life, unravels the similarities between muscle and mind and reveals how failures can help make them stronger.

The action hero stint in Hollywood helped the Terminator Icon grow in versatility. But it would be a lie if one says that Schwarzenegger never failed. So, Schwarzenegger emphasizes embracing failures as they help them to grow. “If you find excuses for your failures, then you will never learn, and you will never grow,” Schwarzenegger revealed in The Issue Is for FOX 11 Los Angeles. But the gains were not easy. Arnie once opened up about how he failed in his iconic 500 lbs bench press before finally acing it.

“I remember the first time I tried to bench-press 500 pounds. It was in front of a packed house at a powerlifting championship in Munich. I failed miserably. The weight came down. I couldn’t even lift it off my chest one inch,” the bodybuilding legend confessed. After failing nine times to bench-press 500 lbs, Arnie accomplished the task for the tenth time.
