Life is an incredible journey, filled with ups and downs, triumphs and setbacks. The concept of a second chance at life holds immense power, offering us the opportunity to learn from experiences, make some corrections, and move on toward a better future. The life of a bodybuilder contains several hurdles throughout his career, including the possibility of severe illnesses as well as organ failures.
It is after the retirement of a bodybuilder that his true strength is tested. The side effects of consuming anabolic steroids, and training like a beast, often finally catch up to the athletes, making the post-retirement years tough. In a recent episode involving Dave Palumbo and Lee Priest on the Rx Muscle podcast, the duo discussed the times when bodybuilders wasted their second chance at life for a competition.
What did the duo discuss?

Palumbo started the topic by revealing details about a fellow bodybuilder, Joseph V. Baglio who needed a heart transplant. After a successful transplant, he hopped back on gear and died due to the consequences of that. The duo also discussed 4X Arnold Classic Flex Wheeler, who competed in several shows after his kidney transplantation procedure. One thing which Priest and Palumbo both agreed on was the fact that it’s not wise to waste your second chance at life for a bodybuilding show.

Priest feels fortunate to have survived
In a recent episode of the podcast “Straight Otta The Lair” Lee Priest revealed that he faced a dark time during his life after he failed a drug test before a competition. Narrating what went on in that moment, Priest said, “…in my head, I’m like ‘F*k this, I’m gonna f**king cut my wrists.’ I go to the kitchen. I grab a knife and I’m sitting and I go ‘Am I going to do it? F**k it, I shouldn’t be here. I shouldn’t be fu*king doing anything.”

Priest explained that he made it to the hospital somehow and still feels lucky that he was saved. “That’s why sometimes it happens because okay, I got lucky it was a blunt knife. Imagine if I had a gun. It would’ve been ‘boom!’ and there would be no coming back,” said the 50-year-old Blond Myth. What do you make of Priest’s comments involving bodybuilders and steroid usage?
