In the realm of fitness and bodybuilding, only a few rise above the rest and become icons in their own right. However, even the most seemingly invincible individuals have their own fears and limitations. One such fitness icon, whose rare muscle condition has kept him away from competing as much as he’d like, recently opened up about his biggest fear. Jo Lindner, the German fitness sensation, has expressed deep concerns about his rare muscle condition, potentially predisposing him to a heart attack or even more dire consequences.

In a candid conversation with renowned YouTuber Bradley Martyn on Wednesday, the German fitness icon revealed his deepest fear when it comes to training and competing in bodybuilding events. With remarkable honesty, he discussed his personal health struggle known as Rippling Muscle Disease, a condition that causes a distinct rippling effect in his muscles and leads to increased cramping.

He said, “The heart is also a muscle, that’s my biggest concern that what if I get such a bad cramp that my heart gets a cramp.” The fitness model claimed that is the reason why he intends to limit his competition to a certain degree and prioritize his health. “Because I would take all these diuretics and if I stop eating salt and drink a lot…then stop drinking as well, you would pee everything out,” he explained while talking about dehydration.

Furthermore, Lindner added that in such a case, he simply “can’t exist” or even walk anymore. Thus, he illustrated the grave scenario as, “That’s what is scary like, oh yeah you have this already and then you dehydrate yourself more, maybe your heart gonna give up at one point.” In contrast, the athlete was once brutally slammed by the bodybuilding world due to a bizarre feat.

Jo Lindner’s unusual workout routine irked the community

Earlier this year, the fitness influencer shared a series of workout routines on his Instagram page, Joesthetics. Popular for his aesthetic and shredded proportions, several enthusiasts look up to him for fitness tips and advice, leading up to a massive 8 million follower base on the platform. His post was captioned, “Alternative training – squeeze it bro. 12-15 reps. We feel lot in middle. Helped me lot for feel it. Can try – not have to bro.” Moments after its upload, users flocked to the comments section with critical remarks on his risky exercises. The community called him out for promoting workouts that have the potential to harm the body, rather than keep it fit.

While training and fitness can be highly beneficial for the body, overdoing it may result in injuries or permanent damage. Moreover, at the competitive levels, the intensity of the workouts is more demanding. Hence, Lindner’s advice on prevention from life-altering risks, given his health condition, is a wise step on his part.

Update: Jo Lindner breathed his last on June 30, 2023. Just a few weeks after opening up about his struggle with over-training and a rare muscular condition, Lindner reportedly died of an aneurysm.
