Incredible Hulk, Tarzan, and Batman are the comic heroes that fascinated John Hansen in childhood with their brawny outlook. But Bruce Lee was his real role model. He joined Karate classes and lifted weights at home to become as shredded as the martial arts icon. At 14, he started pumping iron to become a bodybuilder after discovering Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane, and Franco Columbus’s physiques in magazines. And a week back, Hansen shared a picture on his Instagram page that is a pure example of consistency.

As a 62-year-old, he still lifts weights and maintains a ripped avatar. His latest update shows that age is just a number when it comes to bodybuilding.

Old age is not stopping John Hansen from lifting weights. The 3x Mr. Universe retired from the competitive arena as a 41-year-old but not from the sport itself. He posted a collage of his physiques from 1998 and 2021 on his social media, which are 23 years apart.

The one thing that’s constant in both pictures was his ripped physique. He captioned the post, “1998 to 2021 – What’s 23 years to a Bodybuilder? Just more time to keep pumpin’ iron!” This probably signifies that Hansen’s training sessions have only intensified with age.

Hansen started his bodybuilding journey to become Mr.Universe, and his efforts brought him the title thrice, the first in 1992. He even suffered a bicep tear injury in 2000, but that didn’t stop him from training. Hansen is now a coach and shares his knowledge of bodybuilding with his clients. However, his real glory lies in the fact that he is the first to become a Natural Olympia champion.

The bodybuilder’s diet and fitness regime to bulk up naturally

The year 1998 placed John Hansen as the first Natural Olympia winner. To compete in such a contest, one should not rely on performance-enhancing drugs to build the desired physique. So, Hansen had a high-calorie diet and rigorous training to bulk up.
