Bodybuilding has the word “build” in it for a reason. People spend year after year training with resilience to mold and reshape their bodies in magnificent states. Although these hardships of construction are considered the only requisite component of bodybuilding, there is an underlying element – albeit seemingly unfair – that can make the conclusions differ even after an equal amount of input. Dorian Yates, the winner of Mr. Olympia six consecutive times, briefly talks about it.

Yates chiefly believes in hard work, and as has been noted from his Internet activities, he hardly lives a lifestyle of a 61-year-old. Despite being self-made, Yates highlights some of the gifted individuals in his area of expertise.

Dorian Yates casts light on genetically gifted bodybuilders

In a recent YouTube short posted by @musclemindmedia, Dorian Yates is reported to speak on the topic of gifted bodybuilders in the industry. He begins with “The Myth”, by Cuban-American bodybuilder Sergio Oliva. He remarks, “Sergio Oliva had uniformly long muscle bellies on like everywhere on his body, probably the most genetically gifted.” This three-time Mr. Olympia title holder had been a predecessor of none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. He further emphasizes, after a brief interruption, “Look what the guy looked like in the Late 60s with what they had available there”.

He swiftly includes Ronnie Coleman, too, but reverts back to Sergio, saying, “Ronnie was very gifted. But I would say Sergio probably had the best genetics”. Coleman is undoubtedly one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time.

He holds 8 consecutive years of Mr. Olympia wins, the highest number shared with Lee Haney. Dorian explicitly reflects on the key features of genetics that lead to differing frameworks from person to person.

The role of Genetics in bodybuilding

In the clip, he is reported to begin by briefly addressing the fascinating Gene advantage of having Long Muscle Bellies. “So if you got Long muscle bellies, you have more potential to build more muscle mass…”, the mass monster says. Even from an aesthetic point of view, these are mostly preferred as they exhibit a fuller form.

The bodybuilding world has its own mix of self-made legends and gifted ones. However, no one can question the hard work put in by both. Genetics is not something to gain, it’s built and hence cannot change. The choices and actions of bodybuilders would ultimately devise the final results. Let us know about your perception of it, in the comments below.
